Florence to Rome via ????

Country forums / Western Europe / Italy

I have a full day planned to travel from Florence to Rome via train. I am looking at stopping on the way at either Pisa for several hours or Assisi for seeral hours or possibly somewhere else. Any sugeestions on which would be the best and why? We will need to leave our luggage at the train station regardless of what we do. Thanks.

You can't stop in Pisa on your way to Rome from Florence. Pisa is west of Florence and Rome is south. They are 2 different train lines.

Assisi would definitely get my vote. Is very beautiful and is closer to your itinerary. Pisa is badly overrated.
