Flight safety in Indonesia?!

I'll fly from Bali to Manado. Which airline can you recommend? And whats about the flight safety in Indonesia? (There were some crashs recently...)

ASFAIK, only Lion Air flies Bali-Manado direct.

Flight safety is apparently relatively poor by international standards.
So what?
Are you going to wait around to travel by Pelni instead, possibly costing more than the flights?
Or stick to safe, flightless Singapore? ;-)

I also think only Lion do it direct. As far as I know their safety record is good and I found their planes and service were OK, but their booking system is (was) terrible - I gave up buying online and went to their offices for tickets.

A link was posted on TT regarding the safety grade of most Indo airlines. It basically stated that in comparison to International standards, Indo airlines didn't have any standards to mention of!!!!

I was travelling from Aceh to Penang, via Medan, early Mar this year. I was sitting on the same airline that had another plane crumple it's fuselage, whilst landing the previous day. I was oblivious to this until I saw it on the front page of the free paper the airline gives out. I was sitting on the plane awaiting take-off, looking at the full page photo of the damaged plane and reading about how it had occurred!!!

But what are you going to do, you travel to another country and you have to accept their standards, in all aspects.

I live in UK and probably have more chance of death (fast traffic, muggings etc) on a daily basis than a plane crashing in Indo. It will never put me off flying while on vacation in Indonesia.

Have fun and take some pills if you're overly worried :)

ps - i did some research when I returned to UK, and I read of one report which stated the plane with the crumpled fuselage was attempting to land at nearly twice the landing speed.......... best you double that intake of pills !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
