Fish Glass Good Hotels

Country forums / Central America / Nicaragua

We are planning a trip to Nica in the next month and
-I am looking for recommendations of a safe, reasonably priced hotel to stay in Managua overnight
-if any one has seen any glass studios to visit while there?
-any info about fishing for tarpin or other bonefish on the Corn Islands
-cool jungles to visit with lots of animals
-is it worthwhile to reserve plane ticket to Corn Islands or just wing when we get there
Thanks for your help with these questions
Cheers and happy trails

HI,

Im A scot married to a native nicaraguan, Managua unless im too late a really nice hotel well placed and secure is casa de pilar in managua. also As a strong recomendation dont walk around late at night in magua and the market these people are extreemly poor a dip in your bag could be the difference between staving family and another month of scraping by.

Be safe!

Secondly WELL worth visiting are the market in Masaya Lake katrin and Rivas, nice hotel in rivas although basic is Hotel nicarau, great town my second home in the palenque bario where I will be from the 28th of jan - 5th feb this year. lots to do and see and a local tourist spot called san juan del sure is excellent for fishing as well as some more secluded places such as tola and gigante beach.

Have fun

Thanks so much for the information about the hotels in Managua and the good markets. We will check out some of those places. How about fishing on the corn islands, does anyone know where to go, any good guides, where to get rental equipment. Thanks for this info.

I was there and heard it's not that great of fishing, more snorkeling and diving.

managua we stayed at Camino Real, 1 mile from the airport, I heard don't walk around at night in the city.

I would reserve a plane ticket, only a few flights a day and ours were full. Overheard people with problems on the Atlantic one, we flew La Costena, no issues.
