Finnish Weddings

I'm going to a wedding in Salo, Finland this August with my boyfriend.

We have decided to turn it into a longer break and are looking for some interesting adventure activities or tours to do. We both enjoy canoeing and hiking and cycling, but I think we want to do something really special. I'd like to go to the artic circle aswell. But that, i hear, can be full of mozzies! We want to see as much as possible and have a week of holiday time before we have to be in the south for the wedding.

Can anyone recommend what we should do/see or a route that would be cool to follow?

Thanks!

Not that many mozzies in August generally.

Salo is near the coast, particularly interesting is the area between Turku and Aland islands

and the islands themselves + turku town

If you like the sea, you might want to go to a lighthouse island. Bengtsär is not that far from Salo, and it's amazingly beautiful and exotic. More info here: Bengtsär. You can either stay there for one night, or take a cruise from Turku: cruises.
