Finding employment in the Nordic countries?Interest forums / The Long Haul - Living & Working Abroad
Hi all I've been working in the Audio Visual industry (mainly corporate presentation work) for a few years now. My partner and I will be travelling through Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and back through Germany between August and November this year. She has found work experience in Helsinki for a month, but I am finding it difficult to find any potential employment in the region that isn't teaching or IT related. Does anyone have any idea how I could find employment in the AV industry in these countries? Ideally we would like to stay for a year or so in the Scandinavian region. Any employment at all that doesn't require skilled labour would be handy, but I'm getting nowhere fast trawling through all the online employment agencies. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a Finnish friend living in London who also says that Finland is hard for foreigners because of the language barrier. I'm not gonna let that put me off though! | 2
I lived and worked in Sweden for two years. I have a excellent IT background, that would have got me a good job in a English speaking country no problems. But in Sweden, the best I could do was a dish washing gig at a restuant, which led to me becoming a kitchen hand, then a cook. So moral of the story is, you got to be open to what kind of work you can get. BTW, looking back, it was one of the best jobs I have ever had. | 3
