ferry from venezuela to trinidad

Country forums / South America / Venezuela

hello guys,

i found ticket prices only in US$ or TT&, does somebody know if it is possible to pay the ticket and the departure tax in Bolivar's?
And how much will it cost in Bolivar's?
I going to take the ferry from venezuela to trinidad, but don't have any dollars with me.

Thank's, Andreas

Where did you find the prices, on internet webpage OR at the ferry terminal ?

According to the Venezuelan Embassy in Suriname, the ferry was/is priced in Bolivar's and therefore should be less expensive (using government/official rates) compared to pre-devaluation. The Embassay rep stated Venezuela the reason as being that VZ wants to encourage tourism.

Above is what i was told... i don;t agree with the logic for reason because the ferry cost is truly payable in Bolivars it would be on the VZ side, and some passengers will be doing a one-way ticket which is EXITing the country, rather than creating additional tourism business.

Of course, VZ is again trying to tell the world what their currency is worth and, again, the world doesn;t believe VZ ... and now VZ is trying to force the rate down. Hmmm, wonder how they are managing to finance that, at whose expense ? Rhetorical question.

I'm going to VZ in a few days, will find out first-hand within 10 days or so.

Hi Andreas,

You may risk getting on a fishing boat from Guiria to T T, mind you there is a lot of illegal trade going on in those wherabouts so mind who you get on a boat with. The ferry from Guiria, in the Sucre State in the Northeast of Venezuela, is your best option. It isn't that expensive, but since prices may seem high as they are quoted in TT $. Check in time is 03:00p.m. Departure time 05:00p.m. Luggage must no exceed 18Kg, carry on 6Kg. Scheduled time of arrival in Trinidad 08:30 - 09:00p.m. You may want to dial +58 (0) 294 982 1556 during office hours and ask for
Judith Brito in charge of ticket sales for more information. They don't speak English on the Vzlan side.

Hope this info works for you,

Travel safe,

All the best
