Female Dormitory in China (Beijing, Shanghai and Nanjing)

Country forums / North-East Asia / China

Hello there,

I am new to NE branch. Had done some research for accommodation particularly in Beijing, Shanghai and Nanjing but I cant seem to get anything meant as female dormitory.

Maybe I am wrong but could you guys help to suggest any hostels - as I normally go for solo backpacking - that fits my requirements?

Thank you

I don't think there's such a female dormitory in China.

But the "Home Inn" chain hostel may be a good choice, clean,cheap...

the website only has Chinese...

Well in Shanghai definitely not the Captain's Hostel then, as I know the dorms there aren't strictly single-sex.
Also what your budget like? When would you be travelling?
Cheers!

Hello Ellyse,

I am most likely will be travelling in Aug/Sep timeframe, worst scenario is Nov. Just completed my 3-week's solo backpacking in different region, and money and annual leave are a bit problematic for the time being ;).

As normally I go for a budget hostel recommended by LP, and has no problem in staying in dormitory (opss only female dorm), my budget will be somewhere around USD10-15/day.

Yeah, I guess there's no such thing as female dorm in China as what #1 (flxjm) mentioned as searching ups and down in all hostels websites didnt give much promising. That's why asking for the expertise from the expert from this TT is the last resort :).

Thanks

LP China is a bit outdated to say the least. Currently the most recommended hostels in Shanghai would be Hiker IYH and Etour IYH, and I don't think either is in the guidebook.
Cheers!

The Pujiang Hotel in Shanghai used to have single-sex dorms, but I haven't stayed there in ages. Not sure what the situation is now.
