exit tax by boat from BelizeCountry forums / Central America / Belize
Hello! Has anyone done this recently so they can say for certain how much this (and how much the ferry costs?)? Thanks!
International Passengers by Sea: http://www.travelbelize.org/plan-your-visit/getting-to-here/visitor-fees.html http://www.toucantrail.com/Belize-on-a-Budget/Entry-Requirements-2.html The water taxi costs are shown in this link: https://www.hickatee.com/punta-gorda-water-taxi.html Also check: http://belizebus.wordpress.com/ | 1
Bad news - the exit fee has recently been increased to a whopping US$18.75, in line with the other Belize border crossings. Water taxi fares remain the same though (BZ$40 - BZ$50 depending on the operator). Bring a garbage sack with you to keep your pack/suitcase dry - there have been some wet crossings recently! | 2
Thanks Hickatee - do you know which operator does the crossing for BZ$40? | 3
Hi Chillie Requena's Charter Service (t: 722-2070, e: watertaxi@btl.net) who have an office on Front Street, or you can buy tickets at the dock in the morning. You need to buy your ticket by 9am, for a 9.30am departure. | 4
I know Hickatee is correct, but I just thought I'd question the Belize Tourist Board about the departure fees shown on their website. Here's their reply: I then sent a second inquiry, and got this reply from the same person: "We confirmed with Boarder Management, who has informed us that foreigners spending more than or 24 hrs in the country pays a departure fee of $30 bze and pact fee of $7.50 bze. foreigners spending less than or 24 hrs in the country pays only departure fee of $30 bze. Should you require any additional information in this regard, you can contact Border Management at Tel: 823-3039." | 5
