Emirates airline question | hotel question Dubai suggestions?Country forums / Middle East / United Arab Emirates
Hello, I am busy booking a possible flight from Europe, to Dubai and on to Bangkok. Anybody knows if it is possible to get a stopover for 2 days in Dubai..? Is it possible to arrange after I made the booking and are there extra costs? I can't reach emirates today (sunday here).. And also anybody has a slight suggestion what the costs are for a normal hotel or apparment for 2 days in Dubai?
I think you'll be disappointed with this. After living there and Abu Dhabi for several years I'd state that it's mostly plastic hotels and malls. There are things like the Gold Suk but I wouldn't pay a lot more and go out of my way in the intense heat and humidity just to see that for an hour. Enjoy the cultural experience of Bangkok and Southeast Asia. Your money will go tremendously further and you won't go away with a culturally-starved empty feeling! For that Mid East experience go somewhere like Oman. | 1
Ignore above post, Dubai is a wonderful place for a short break. | 2
haha! Yes ignore my post -I only lived there for three years. I work from there Turkey and Southeast Asia. OP go there, follow #2's instructions, and then get back with us. Love to hear your experience. | 3
Yes, and I have lived in Dubai for many years, have a business here and own properties. The OP was asking for advice for a 2 day visit on her way to Bangkok not a cultural experience. It is a great way to break up a long flight and spend a couple of days. | 4
wandabug unless you were an expat that unfortunately got caught up in the flat pyramid scams and unregulated housing market I'm assuming you are a national that's allowed to own land? In either case, sometimes when you are invested too long in an area your perspective and counsel may suffer. Dubai will however, help you to appreciate Bangkok. | 5
