El Calafate to El Chalten

Hi!

I am planning a trip to El Calafate and El Chalten from may 8th to 15th. Only little problem is that buses don't seem to go between these two cities anymore after April 15th. Anyone knows of another way to get there? I sadly can't rent a car.

That is pretty weird.

There are always buses between these places, there is just less buses in the off season and the offoffseason.

Hi, thank you very much for this answer, I will make sure to check these options.

I guess I jumped to conclusions quite too fast! I had only been able to contact Chalten Travel which, though it seems possible to buy tickets on Plataforma10, have told me that they stop running this route as of April 15th. I got worried that it would be the same for all bus companies, since they have not answered my mails. Still, Taqsa's schedule is pretty limited, and does not work for me as my plane lands in the late afternoon. I will try contacting CalTur again.

El Chalten Buses
CalTur seem to have buses going at 6:30pm.

You do have a few days. So maybe buy a ticket on your day of arrival (if there are limited services it might be booked out).

Another option as you have a week all up is to spend the first 2 nights in El Calafate - first day go book your ticket at the bus station if you can. The next day go to Perito Moreno Glacier. And the following morning go out to El Chalten.

The other option, would be to hitch a ride with someone.

hitchhiking isn't really an option for this route and less off season
