El Calafate and El Chalten in late April / early MayCountry forums / South America / Argentina
Hi, I've asked a few people I know this question and have received mixed responses, so I thought I'd try here. I'm flying into Buenos Aires on the 23rd April and flying out again on the 5th May. Right now I'm struggling to decide between Salta / Northwest Argentina, and El Calafate / El Chalten and Patagonia. I don't want to rush too many things into my two weeks there so I'm trying to choose one or the other to go with a few days in Buenos Aires rather than trying to cram both in and things just getting hectic. My preference would probably be Patagonia as it's always been an ambition of mine to go, but my main worry is that by then everything down south will be closing up for the winter and that the weather won't play ball. I was just wondering if people would still recommend travelling there at that time of year, or if Salta would be a better option? I've read that the weather can often be better during the Autumn, if a little cold, but the cold doesn't bother me too much. Does anyone have any experience visiting there during the autumn / fall months and would you say it was worth going? Thanks.
I would opt for Salta | 1 | |
