East Madagascar

Country forums / Africa / Madagascar

I will be going to Madagascar in mid-July for work and i plan on staying for a week extra to travel in the east of the country. I am a novice as far as madagascar is concerned so I would love any advice whatsoever. For example, the best way to travel from Tana to the east coast and Ile Sainte Marie, any national parks in that part of the country to see its amazing forests and wildlife etc.
I will be travelling alone so if anyone else is travelling around the country in July, please let me know.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there,
One week is enough to go to the east and Jully is the best time to see the whales in Sainte Marie. You can drive from Tana to Andasibe ( 3hours driving ) overnight there then next day visit the park where you can spot the largest lemur named "Indri Indri" and the others species, reptiles, birds,... On third day continue to Foulpointe then next day continue to Sonierana Ivongo where you will catch the boat to Sainte Marie, you can stay here for 02 days then fly back to Tana.
Good luck!
Anne
