Dushanbe - Khorogh travel

Country forums / Central Asia / Tajikistan

Recently spent two months in Tajikistan doing research in the Pamirs. For the return to Dushanbe, the folks who run Pamir Lodge suggested their friend, Mokim. He's one of the best mountain drivers I've been in the car with. Unfortunately, once he gets into the city, he acts like he's on a race course. At one point he was driving 140 km/h in heavy city traffic and got angry when I asked him to slow down. If you need a driver exclusively for mountains, go with Mokim. He's amazing. If you want to live once you get closer to Dushanbe, go with someone else.

And on a side note regarding Pamir Lodge: it's a great place. Ask for breakfast. The price is a little high (went to $3-$4 this summer), but the rolls they bake to go along with the naan, tea and eggs are just out of this world.
