I have stopover in Dubai for 23h, on 01.January 2010. That is on Friday and New Year. Does anybody know, if the souq´s/markets are open on Friday and specially on New Year???,...I have not been in Dubai and no idea about that. Does it make sense to plan to go there on that day or should I look for other places to see on that day?

By the ways, where you will stay? Jumeirah?

The souks & malls will probably open normal Friday hours - some will open at 12:00 noon, and most will open at 14:00.
