Driving Aman to petra or getting a cab

Hi, my wife and I will fly to Jordan, We will land @ Aman and go to Petra, would you recommend renting a car or getting a Cab?

Rent a car only for reaching Wadi Musa ? A cab will be more easy.
You can't use a car in Petra.
It could be different if you move around the country but if you are going only in Petra, a taxi is enough.

Have you considered a third option, which is the most obvious and by far the cheapest: Taking a bus from Amman to Wadi Musa?

If you have time, it will be better to reach Madaba and, from there, using public transports along the King Highway.
There is no public transports for some legs but you can find alternatives to going South and catch a new one.
From Queen Alia, you can catch bus to the South and Wadi Musa but they use mostly the Desert Highway.
This one is not so nice (scenic). The King Highway is the most scenic of the three (including the Dead Sea Highway)
