driver in Cairo

Does anybody know a reliable driver for Cairo and day trips from there such as Alexandria, Pyramids exc.?

The first question to ask is why (as opposed to your tag line). Why do you need to hire a driver?

Alexandria is best reached by train as opposed to driving and places like the Pyramids in Giza are easily reached by standard taxi. Of course, if you wish to hire a driver that's your perogative, but it will be much more expensive and isn't required.

BTW - as you no doubt know your question will elicit a multitude of PM's from touts trying to recommend their cousin or brother who can happily drive you and knows good English. Please do not respond to these scammers and report them to the mods so they can be deleted and banned. Otherwise they will continue to harass people and take over the forum.

I second Laketraveller. Take the train to Alexandria, either first or second class - cheap, reliable and fast. Once there grab a taxi for the day.
