Dollar rate again and Caracas Airport to busterminalCountry forums / South America / Venezuela
Hi there! Again and again. Same question! ;-) Looking as well for informations going in a safe way from Caracas Airport to the busterminal (going to Merida with the night bus). We are arriving at 6 p.m. in Caracas Muchas Gracias
You will get a bit less than the rates shown on the link below. The middleman has to make a profit otherwise he would not be doing the job. Jorge Daniel Barchi. | 1
November 1, 2008 the VZ bank rate(ATM) was 2.147 VEF for one dollar-USD. | 2
So basically, unless I was rich & stupid, I need to bring loads of cash in US Dollars (or Euros)? (into the new murder capital of the world!) | 3
Yesterday I was offered a 5 to 1 exchange in Porlamar, Isla Margarita. That could have been some sorte of scam, but 4 to 1 is definately possible. I could bite my ass that I did not bring any more Dollars or Euros, but I didnt know about that before -.- Don´t know the current exchange rate for Euros though | 4
Yes, Have a good trip | 5 | |
I really wonder whether it is the goal to have high criminality to prevent foreigners taking piles of cash and having to use the official ripoff-exchange or whether the fixed rate is in place to force tourists travelling with lots of cash and therefore being an easy target for robbers. | 6
The www.dollar.nu</a> gives also the (every day)rate at the airport. Theo. | 7
Ok, thanks everyone, that that sorted. Any of you able to advise on the chances of getting _into Venezuela from Colombia on a UK passport without a visa? _ I'll be landing in Caracas from from UK (no problem - visa on arrival) then visiting Colombia overland (no visa problems either) but then wil be re-entering Venezuela overland from Colombia, to fly home. According to the embassy website you can't get visa on arrival overland.... Wonderiing if the fact I'll have a flight out of Venezuela (on an E-ticket though!) will help? Fairly fairly good at talkimg my way through problems, but not so confident when my flight home is at stake!! | 8
@threadopener: About the 2nd part of your question: Take the shuttle from the national airport to the city and then a taxi to a bus terminal. if you arrive at 6pm it might be difficult to catch a bus the same day. The last buses leave around 9.30 pm I would say. | 9
Hello, It's easy to get 4 B for 1 dollar at the airport. (Nov 6) The big problem is all the fake US$ at the airport. They always try to cheat you. They try to do like this. You want to change 200 US. A simple rule is: Never take a US$ back and always count the B before you give them our dollars. I know at least 3 guy's that try this. It's easy to see if a dollar is fake, the year is 1999 and a real dollar you can't draw with a pen on. This guy's are very friendly and helpful. They could help you with tickets for Los Roques or anything else you need. | 10
Hi, Since you have had so many answers I'll be brief. At the airport you'll be offered BsF 3.5 per US $. If you know someone who can offer you a better rate take it, but be skeptical. Many scams abound. Good luck, All the best, Thomas | 11
As for buses to Merida. The latest bus from Peli Express bus station, which is by far safe than La Bandera, departs at 09:00p.m. You can take a taxi straight from the airport to the bus station. You'll need to hurry though. Alternatively tou could depart from La Bandera, a public bus station, at 09:30p.m. Once again, All the best Thomas | 12
