Doll Wiese Skiing in Vienna

Country forums / Western Europe / Austria

Hello

I have been doing some internet searches on things to do and see when I am in Vienna in January and I saw that there is a place called Doll Wiese which is a ski complex for novices and children.

This sounds great to me as I am keen to have the experience of skiing in Austria but I have never been skiing before (never even seen snow!)

The website I found this on really only gave that short description so I tried doing a search of my own for an official website but all I can find are the same kind of descriptions. Maybe I am searching for the wrong name? I haven't been able to see anything on the Thorn Tree either

Can anyone give me a run down on this place? Review, cost, where it is, etc etc? A proper website to check out would be awesome

Thank you!

There are two place for skiing in Vienna, but both are small.

Dollwiese is only in use if there is enough snow, and that means nearly never in Vienna!

The second one is Hohe-Wand-Wiese. This one has artificial snow and can be used nearly all over the winter. They have a homepage: [http://www.hohewandwiese.at] , but it's only in german - maybe you can understand the necessary informations, and you can rent skis there. But keep in mind, that this is very small as well, if you really want to get an idea about skiing you have to go to the country side. There are ski-ressorts around vienna, that can be visited in an one day trip.
