Doing a Chinese visa run to Vientiane

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has the latest info on doing a Chinese visa run to Vientiane? I'm in Beijing right now and thinking of doing something a little different from the usual HK visa run. I'm prepared to do all the paperwork (this is China we're talking abt, paperwork is a given) but I'd hate to prep everything, get there and then get turned down so are the chances good? I've been on a work visa for the past two years so I don't have a recent history of visa runs.

Doing your visa run in HK will be dramatically easier.
