Does anyone bother with vaccinations any more?Country forums / Middle East / Iran
I can't remember the last time I had pre-holiday jabs, must have been 15 or more years ago! Officially there's a few of them recommended for travel to Iran but what's the view of the folks on LP? If I need them, I'll have to get organised soon. Thanks,
Hi I was in Iran three times and never bothered to vaccinate, but i think Typhus abdominalis would be a good idea wherever you travel. Especially if you will eat in the street bars. Maciek | 1
Hi | 2 | |
I'm always up to date on the appropriate vaccines for the countries I am visiting. | 3
You don't need any vaccinations for Iran, even the tap water is safe to drink and streetfood is safe. On the whole people are cleaner than in Europe | 4
Thanks for the replies. So, the consensus appears to be 'possibly but maybe not, it's down to personal preference'. Good to know they don't seem to be essential for Iran (in this case). I'll take Imodium with me as usual, but again I can't remember the last time I had to use them either. | 5

I've travelled to all the continents several times, different parts of Asia (also Iran) included, and never bothered with vaccinations. Iran would be the last of all places where I'd consider it. | 8
" Iran would be the last of all places where I'd consider it" - definitely good to know. BTW I wouldn't say it's a syndrome among Europeans to have vaccinations as all the official travel advice is to have the basic three (diphtheria, hepatitis A and tenanus) even as boosters. | 9
