Diving in RoatanCountry forums / Central America / Honduras
I am traveling through CA and am headed to Roatan for a week over New Years and am hoping to advance my open water diving certification. As its the busy season I rented a house with friends and family that i am traveling with and some are flying in for the week. I was just wondering if anyone has advice on a good and reputable dive school in the westend and if i should reserve in advance. Thanks all!
Where you take your course is a matter of personal choice. Check out the dive shops when you get there and go with the one you feel most comfortable with. Don't worry about booking in advance. All of the shops will take on new students. That's where they make their money. I've been diving with Ocean Connections for the last ten years and really like them. They are a smaller shop and the instructor to student ratio is good. That aside, if Michelle is still working at West End Divers, I'd definitely go with them. I got a lot of dives in with her this year when she worked at OC and can't say enough good things about her. | 1
Than you both so much for you responses and information, it will definitely come in handy. Its almost been two years since I have been diving due to being in school. Im really excited to dive in Honduras for the first time! Happy Travels! | 2
Hey there, I just dove with West End Divers (http://www.westenddivers.info) for a week and they were GREAT! I sent them an email before I got to Roatan and they helped me arrange an airport pick up and my accommodation also. Enjoy!! | 3
A dive shop is only as good as its current staff. I have always strongly recomended the people talk to thier potential instructors before committing to anything. Right now I would say Splash Inn is doing a great job but check a few before deciding. | 4
