Day Trips/Short Trips from SeoulCountry forums / North-East Asia / South Korea
I am visiting a friend at the beginning of November in Seoul. There will be 3 20-something women, and we would like to take a couple day/overnight trips outside the city. One day we definitely want to spend "in nature" of some sort, whether that be hiking in a national park or going to a rural area or seeing some sort of natural wonder. The other day is just anything cool. We're not into the beach/islands... Any ideas would be amazing, thanks!!
Recommend Mount Seoraksan on the East Coast. Extremely popular with plenty of hiking courses to choose from and sights to see: caves, peaks, cliffs, waterfall, temple and cable car. Cultural and historical attractions are also nearby. This is a very popular hiking destination, so check on lodging in advance. Take subway line 1 to Suwon (1 hour) and walk its well-preserved city wall. | 2
Bukhansan NP is actually on the outskirts of Seoul, and easily accessed by bus or subway, but once you're in it, you could be a thousand miles from the city. Amazing granite peaks, and loads of hiking routes up to the top. The DMZ tour run by the USO is also very worthwhile, but needs to be booked in advance. | 3
The beginning of November is when the autumn leaves are most spectacular, so you're timing your visit well. | 4
No photos in the DMZ??? We were allowed to take photos of everything. | 5
