Damascus hotel for Valentine's day

Country forums / Middle East / Syria

I am looking for a traditional style hotel to stay in Damascus. Ideally it would be small, traditional/unique with a romantic atmosphere for our last night in Syria on 14th February. I was originally looking at the Al Mamlouka, which seems to be well known on websites, but since the UK pound dropped against the dollar, $300 a night is a bit steep. Is there any riad style / boutique hotels in damascus that would cost about 6500 SYP a night. This should be enough to get somewhere special - I found a cracking place in Marrakesh for that much. Many thanks.

Try/google these new boutique hotels in the old city they could be cheaper.Oriental,Beitzaman,Beitruman,Old damascus hotel, let us know how you go

The al-Mamluka and Beit Rumman are both very nice hotels but only have a few rooms, they and the others I think all charge pretty much the same, there are other less well know hotels such as the Vine and Beit Zaman, worth giving them a ring and see if they will offer you a deal since its the low season, I dont think you will get anywhere for around 6500 SY, the boutique hotels in Damascus are still few and compete with the Four Seasons, Beit al-Mamluka never has a problem filling its beautiful rooms.
Please tell me the pound will pick up soon.....its killing me!
