Having spent several days indulging my fantasy of escaping from work for a few months and going to Australia or New Zealand , I began to wonder about the possibility of house sitting, being mature and responsible I am a safe bet. I looked on the appropriate site on the forum only to find lots of postings with very few responses. Does anyone have any experience of this, any suggestions ?Any other ideas how to get away for about 3 months on a budget !!! Pity I am too old for a working holiday visa.........

It's nice but not that great there ...been there done that at 48
I did Costa Rica 1994-1999.....Put an ad in the TICO TIMES english paper ( google it ) and do it about
3 months before you go.....to house sit.....put up $ 1000 bond cause they want yo uto STAY not ROME around
They need the security for SQATTERS .....so owners can't leave without a sittter.....so go and you will
enjoy it. take a friend.

Great rent / or no rent but they need some security deposit ( or should get one from you ) as a guarentee that YOU are not going to split. anywhere there is wonderful and a good experience for you.

try housecarers.com. But don't hold your breath, there is a hell of a lot of competition.
