Crete itinerary help

Hi, we are a couple traveling to Crete in late August with our baby who will be 6 months old.

We are flying into Hania, hiring a car and staying there for 4 nights. We will do some day trip from there.

We have another 10 nights to book and are unsure where to go. We could fly out from either airport. We would like small traditional villages with views from our accommodation. We like swimming but rocks are good, doesn't have to be a beach. We are thinking 3 different locations with the last accommodation at a small resort with a pool. Other accommodation could be small family run hotel or an individual apartment.

Any lovely villages you can suggest? We were thinking the south coast?
