Corpus Christi in Rome

Country forums / Western Europe / Italy

Hello! I will be in Rome with my wife in May on Corpus Christi this year (Thursday, May 31). What will be a program of this year event? Does it mass at St John Lateran and then there is a procession to Santa Maria Maggiore? Do you need to get there early to be able to see the procession? Are there any really good place to see the procession? Does it worth visit for really short trip to Rome?

You need to google to find out what may be going on. Many of the events take place on Sunday 3 June. The weekend is the main festival of the year in Orvieto with mediaeval costumes and events on the Saturday, and a religious procession on Sunday morning with all sorts of non-religious activities too, which is usually on tv. A quick google shows the Pope will visit Ostia that day, so I guess there will be an event there too
