Hi, A lot of African nations seem to demand a proof that you can leave the country (e.g. a continuation flight ticket) for giving a visa. So does Kenya. But what if I plan to leave the country by land? How can I give proof that I will continue to Ethiopia by taxi?
Nobody has ever asked me for my flight ticket or any other proof of onward travel when entering Kenya (or Tanzania for that matter). All I had to state was how long I intended to stay in the country, and about the funds I had for my stay (just make up a suitable amount). | 1
I've applied for visas where you need to provide a bank statement showing that you have at least $500 when you're traveling by land-- so unless they state it formally, you probably don't need to provide it. But like Stefo said, it's probably good to let them know the length/cost of your travels. | 2
you cannot go to Ethiopia by Taxi from Kenya. If you tell custom officials at Kenya that you are taking a taxi to Ethiopia they will not believe you and at the very leats laugh at you. If customs ask just say you are going to Arusha (Tanzania) by bus from Nairobi and will buy the ticket in Nairobi for the bus, | 3
Are you bullshitting us? By taxi to Ethiopia???? Anyway, in case you are not a troll: you need the following for a visa upon arrival: Nothing else. | 4
Sorry, hadn't checked the transport situation in Kenya yet when i wrote this. Thought of west african travel methods. no need to freak out smallmaster =) | 5
If I may ask, I'm in a similar situation, but my return ticket from Nairobi to Montreal is three months and a half later, more than 90 days. Will I need to go to Tanzania to re-enter with another visa? Will I have trouble upon arrival? | 6
Hi You will get a 3 months (90 days) visa, and then you have to go and ask for extension at a nearby immigration office, shoving them your airticket. No problems as I see it. Mike | 7
