Cold War Museums & Memorials

Travelling in Baltic States & E. Germany, and finding more museums than I can visit. I've visited concentration camps and Holocaust museums before, so not interested in them in particular. Please write of your museum experience.

At some point it's a sick fascination with cold war and communism. It's overplayed and made to tourist attractions even when the places don't deserve it. You'd need to be a history buff to understand the background.
Depending on future history writing you, or your grand children, could be equally fascinated with the US history of recent decades.

There are lots and lots of possibilities.

One that I found very interesting was the ninth fort in Kaunas.This relates both to the Nazi occupation and the Soviet one.There are also plenty of former prison/interrogation type places,with cells etc....in Vilnius for example,or in Riga.If that kind of thing interests you?

At the other end of the spectrum, the soviet era spa at Jurmala (outside Tallinn), is it worth a visit? I wouldn't normally go to a spa, but if it has some faded glory and the town is worth a stroll, it may be a relaxing day.
