If you can combine all three then you get a gold star...
I thought boat to Ko Samui, flight to Phuket then boat to Ko Lanta, but different internet information is misleading. If I do it my way then I get to Phuket by 2pm and there's a boat to Ko Lanta from Phuket at 4.10pm (stopping by Ko Phi Phi on the way), or so says one website...
However another says that to get from Phuket to Ko Lanta you have to get the one and only boat which leave in the morning...which would mean staying a night on Phuket...
...is this making sense?!
Basically, can you get from Ko Pha Ngan to Ko Lanta in one day? (we've only got three weeks in thailand and i dont want to spend days and days travelling)

I've been caught out this way!
You can do it one day if you take the first (6am i think) boat from KPG. The agents that will book the trip for you will tell you that you arrive in Lanta at 5pm but in my experience expect to be there about 7pm. It's a bit of a gruelling trip. KPG-Donsak-Surat-Krabi-Lanta. I think they cahrge around 500BT for the whole thing.

As #1 says, bus to Krabi. Try and get other than Songserm, as they have always been bad, when I used them. I'd use government bus from Surat bus station, and mini bus from Krabi, but don't know if times allow you to get there same day, or need an overnight at Krabi, in which case you could go by ferry to Lanta.

| tezza17:00 UTC03 Oct 2007 | Catch the night ferry out of Phangan to Surathani. Cheapest ferry plus saves a night's bungalow hire. Comfy matress and pillow to catch the zzzzzs.
When it arrives in Surathani around 0500, transport guys at the pier will take you to one of the small travel agents and after a half hour or so you will hop on a miniubus for Krabi, usually arriving well before mid-day. The minibus should drop you at the new pier for the ferry to Lanta.
BTW, travel agents on Phangan will be able to sell you a ferry-minibus-ferry ticket right through to Lanta. There have been some complaints about Surathani travel people not honouring the tickets, but they have always worked for me.
