cheaper train tickets vienna <-> salzburg

on the route salzburg vienna since some month wesbahn , a private railway is operating. tickets mostly only 50% of state owned oebb . westbahn has also free internet in the train and you can buy the tickets in internet, at trafik (tabacco store) and on the train. also they offer often special, some time only 7 euro tickets, or now 9 euro tickets for seniors.

Since the Westbahn appeared, OeBB sells highly discounted Salzburg - Vienna tickets through the internet, however.
