Cheap Hotel in Marrakech?

hi all -

i'll be traveling to marrakech in early october for vacation. does anyone have any recommendation for inexpensive hotels or hostels in the city near Place Jemaa El Fna? i am a single woman traveling alone and would like to find something cheap, but safe.

Hotel Essaouira, off rue Riad Zitoun el Khedim (turn right just past the hammam). 100DH. Safe as sausages.

Hotel Sherazade, Hotel Ali, or Grand Hotel Tazi, in that order.

None of the cheap hotels have sites. If it's full (that's only happened to me once) they will send you across the street. Which is small but OK- but the Essaouira is better

Both Ali and Sherazade do have websites. Whether they will respond to emails in English is questionable.

#5 The kind folks over at Hotel Sherazade do respond to emails in English (sharazade@iam.net.ma). I´m going there next week, and I´ve done my booking via email.
