CHEAP CHEAP LACANAU

Interest forums / Travel on a shoestring

Hiya

I'm trying to find a cheap campsite in the area of Lacanau, France. Usually I book my lodgings with Hostelworld but alas they don't have anything in this area. Does anybody know a good place to stay? Any info would be most welcome.

Thank you!! xx

Thank you! I shall investigate now . . . .

1: Remember that hostelworld.com only lists maybe 1% or less og the hostels in a country, but actually....
2: there isn't a hostel in Lacanau, but something like that: http://www.lacanau.com/english/jeunes.htm</a>

Bjoern you're a star. I shall report the info to my fellow friends.

try www.hostelbookers.com - similar to hostelworld its just they are always cheaper. Also remember to look on links for budget accommodation for each country on their respective tourist office websites (works quite well) as they give more options in many cases . Also check out current guidebooks for each country from your local library/or read them in a bookshop! which often will give email and website contacts aswell . . . worked well for me in the past

This is all great stuff people. Theo I was unbeknown to hostelbookers so this is useful for all trips so thank you! I'm going to look into the guide books too and see if there's anything useful.

One more question!! I don't suppose you guys think it better to book once I'm out there (end of July)? Or would it be better to book in advance? . . . . I'm only going for four nights. Sorry to ask such a dumb question but I haven't been to France in years.

If you know WHEN you will be there (and this is in the High season) I cannot see any reason whatsoever NOT to book as far in advance as possible!

Re hostelbrooker - they have the same problem as hostelworld - they leave out at least 90% of the hostels (At least in some countries) - probably those that won't pay them commission, and a lot of the places they list are simply ordinary hotels (in the cheap end).
