Hi everyone...

How would those of you who have spent time in both Nairobi and Mombassa, describe them? Few words on character of the city?

Good one. The answer could depend on why you're there. Are you going to Kenya to live/work or are you a tourist?

I've always preferred the warmth and exoticism of Mombasa (and the rest of the coast).

Nairobi I find more challenging. Social life is less street-oriented, and more confined to outlying suburbs and malls. You would get lonely pretty fast if you didn't have friends and contacts to visit. Nairobi can have some pretty rainy and cold spells too.

Well, this is an interesting question....

Mombasa: Loved the laid back(as compared to Nairobi!!!)sun, sand, beach, history, Indian Ocean
....Beach Boys...ARGGGGGGG!!!!!

Nairobi: Quite cosmopolitan in the CBD...cocktails, shopping, vibrant and active night life
....traffic....ARRRRRGGGGG!!!!
