Car Rental Minimum Age

I am 20 years old, and I would really like to rent a car. I've read that you have to be 21 years old to rent a car in New Zealand. Do all companies abide by this? Oddly, there is no minimum age to rent a campervan, so I was wondering if there is some loophole with car rentals as well.

There is a thread on this in the last couple of weeks - most of the samller rental car people e.g. jucy.co.nz will rent to those over 18, with a higher insrance rate. Google on rental cars in NZ "under 21" and you'll find plenty.

Wicked campers will do you a van, but as Myshkin says above, google and yuo will find, my GF was 19 and we had no problem renting a car, if you arrive in Auckland, check out Omega cars- around $23nz a day(much les if you hav it for longer.) no the cheapest bu they did us fine.
