I have a few questions. I do read the OT board but don't post that often. I've bought a cheap ticket from Calgary to London(Gatwick) return with Air Transat. Lots of Canadians on OT hence the questions. The flight is a Code-Share, so I'm actually flying with Thomas Cook Airlines. I fly tomorrow, so there isn't time for some of my usual internet preparation. From Gatwick I'll overnight take the bus(National Express) into Victoria Station then to HI hostel near Soho.....Question, the next day(11:00am) Any thoughts on my from those who might of been there?.....Gdansk-Torun-Wroclaw-Berlin-Amsterdam-ferry Hook of Holland-London-fly home....I have two weeks....Hostel booked in Gdansk for the first two nights, no bookings after that.
Just thought I'd add a bio. I'm late 50's,lots of walking during the day is great, museums(paintings), medieval centres, castles that sort of things.....My example would be London, I love paintings, if the National Gallery is still free, that's where I'd probably spend my afternoon in London......I'm a non-smoker and drinker, so beer gardens and that sort of thing through Poland and Germany wouldn't interest me....I'm generally up early and in bed early. | 1
In London you have basically two options: National Express coach or Stansted Express train. The train, if I remember well goes from Paddington Station. It's much safer, as the traffic in London is unpredictable. You can get easily delayed an hour if you travel by coach. In Gdansk it's much easier. The distance from the airport is very short. You can either take a bus or taxi. | 2
No, it's Liverpool Street station. If your hostel is near Soho, it's presumably near Tottenham Court Road or Holborn tube station, so you can take the Central Line (red on the map) straight to Liverpool Street. | 3
Thanks for the responses. The London hostel was near Oxford Circus Tube Station just north on Great Portland Road. It worked out, caught train to Stanstead from Tottenhan(something) station on the blue line....Took the 210 bus into Gdansk, loved the town, stayed two nights, took the ship(galleon) on the river cruise, great food and coffee, beautiful medieval centre..... | 4
