Can unmarried couples share hotel rooms?

Country forums / Middle East

I'll be traveling in Lebanon, Jordan, and the West Bank later this year. I'm a guy in my late 50's, traveling with a female friend in her early 30's. We're not actually a couple, but we want to share hotel rooms, and people probably will not believe that we are relatives (different ethnic groups). Will we have trouble renting a hotel room together? Are there any other issues we should be aware of, in terms of how we'll be perceived?

It will be fine if you are Westerners...

I doubt that anyone will ask you, but you should be prepared to say that you are married if anyone does put the question to you.

Very unlikely anyone will question you.

If they do,say you are married I guess. But I've been in all those places with my partner and no-one ever asked us...
