I stayed overnight both on the air side and in the public area at ICN before, and it was quite safe.
There is no free shower unless you can use a business class lounge (flying in business class, or having a gold status on an FFP). There is a spa on the basement of the terminal, though you need to clear immigration.

Sorry, the last reply of mine wasn't accurate. It seems there are free shower facilities at ICN.

They are open from 7:00 to 21:00.

There is also a jjimjilbang (sauna) in the airport with sleeping areas, it costs 20,000KRW.

Hello,

If you are not able to leave security there is a sleep lounge in the transit hall. I have slept there myself and it is free. Good lie flat leather "chairs" free for all to use.

As for a shower (and food and drink) I would recommend the "Hub Lounge":

If you are flying Asiana or Korean Air it is $21 (USD) for entrance. Otherwise $35 (USD). It includes shower, internet, all you can eat buffet, open bar (as much as you want to drink), comfy chairs, TV, etc. A great deal for a long layover.
