Anyone know if it's definitely OK to camp at/near the refugio at Laguna Grande?

Just phoned them, it is forbidden the Police (Guardia Civil) will remove you. At this moment there is no one who speaks English on site.

Thanks for doing that, much appreciated! The Rough Guide mentioned that camping was allowed, but I wasn't sure whether to believe it, so thanks for confirming that camping's not allowed. I will plan to go somewhere else!

Is free / wild / stealth camping frowned upon in Spain??

do you have to camp in "official" paid-for areas?
