camping in italy

OK, change of plans... my husband and I are now thinking about renting a car for 3 days and camping in a different place each night.. We want to start from Milan and drive someone, camp and then head out the next day to another location..... and all this with an 18 month old. :)

So any campers out there that can recommend some good places? We'd be up for going almost anywhere in the northern or western part of Italy... not east coast and not south. We don't want to spend all day in the car, but woudl like to get as much of a taste of Italy in the 3 days that we can.
