| jenn_ben14:37 UTC24 Oct 2007 | Every year the 2 bedouin tribes of Nuweiba: Tarabin and Mezeina, have a traditional camel race between them. The race takes place in the mountains (wadi zalaga) usually around mid January. it is a real camel race - not tailored for tourists. it starts the night before when all the bedouins arrive to the wadi - thoes participating in the race and thoes who come to watch it, many camp fires are build in the wadi and the smell of bbq lamb takes opver the wadi. a lot of musicians arrive and the party is until dawn. in the morning the race takes place and then the celebration of the winning tribe.
