buying wetsuit and fins in dahab or sharmInterest forums / Diving & Snorkelling
Hi! I'll be going to the Red Sea in January. I don't have any dive shops near me, so i am thinking about picking up a 7mm and some open heel fins when I get there. I don't want to buy these items online. Is it bettern to buy in Sharm or Dahab? Any recommendations for shops with reasonable prices and a good selection? Thanks in advance for your time!
Just got back fm Dahab where I bought my fins, and my travel buddy his 7mm suit, so have just the right info for you! Would recommend to buy your gear in Dahab, Sharm is about 15-20% more expensive and I don't know if you can bargain your way down in Sharm. Cressi 7mm was bought at Scuba One, located next to the taxi stand Masbat. Price paid: 1.250 pounds. That's a good deal, locals/Divemasters do get a bit more discount, but not much. Fins Tusa Imprex bought in other shop: walk fm taxi stand Masbat in direction of Lighthouse area, pass the entrance of Nesima, on your hand it is the shop just before the bank/ATM. Bought for 280 pounds and booties for 150p. Have FUN, beautiful water out there :-) | 1
Lotsky--You just told me exactly what I needed to know! Thanks!! | 2
I don't know you physiology but most people will start wearing 2 piece suits in Jan/feb, and a hood. Water temp now is 22/23'C. Soon to drop to 21'C. Most dive shops rent gear for just a little more. Try to get a member of the dive shop to help you. As mentioned above they get 10% or more off. | 3
