Bus to Diklo/Borik

Country forums / Eastern Europe & the Caucasus / Croatia

Hello everyone,

I'm off to Croatia on Saturday and I'm staying in the Villa Triana in the Borik/Diklo area of Zadar on Saturday night.

I was hoping someone could tell me which bus I need to take to get to this area...the villa is a bit further up the coast from the Youth Hostel on the road Kresimirova obala.

Also, does anyone know how often the bus goes from Zadar to Split on a Sunday?

Thanks in advance for any help.

James

Diklo and Borik are contiguos but two separate and relatively large areas. From your description is not clear where exactly the villa is.
Bus no. 5 (Puntamika - Borik) will take you practically to the doorsteps of the youth hostel.
Bus no. 8 (Diklo) runs for the most part the same route as bus no.5 but at Borik splits and continous farther to Diklo. Both buses start at the main bus terminal, with numerous stops along the route.

Buses to Split are frequent. There are many bus companies running the line. Good choice is Contus, check their web site for departure times (relatively few).

Thanks!

The Villa is on Kresimirova obala which is right on the coast and seems to start where the Put Dikla road ends.

I think I will take the Number 8 and just jump off somewhere that looks close.

I have a couple more questions if someone can help....

1) This may seem silly, but do the busses have bells on them to make them stop, or do you just ask the driver to stop? Does anyone know the phrase for 'next stop please?'...I have googled, but can't find what I need

2) I'm guessing you just buy a ticket on the bus, right? But where do you say you are going? Or is there a fixed price?

Thanks again for your help.

The price is fixed. You can buy ticket at any newspaperstand near a bus stop. There are bellbuttons at the door to signal the driver to stop.

Next stop = slijedeca stanica, molim (sliyedecha stanitsa) - since you asked for it.

Another thing: buses are air-conditioned (unless you happen to hop on an old one).
