| yanqin02:45 UTC26 Apr 2007 | Heading for Paris in Sept and looking for cheap accommodation, but don't fancy staying in Montmarte much.
Most hostels seem to be located there, unfortunately.
It's not that it's a horrible place, but isn't near a lot of stuff we want to see, and we are walking freaks - we want to stay in a place where we can walk everywhere (and resort to the metro/bus only when we must).
I've found only one hostel - called Hotel de la Bastille - that seems not too bad, located at Rue de la Roquette, which has a highly rated location, but reviews otherwise are very mixed. Sounds unbeatable at 19 euros a night, but I would love to hear from anyone who has stayed there before - a good choice?
I was also wondering if anyone can suggest other hostels in the 20-25 euros per person category, hopefully in the Marais area (my fave part of Paris).
Thanks for any responses!

Each is a rennovated 17th century private mansion. The Lonely Planet Paris guidebook describes them as "the best budget accommodations in Paris."
