Budget diving in Papua New Guinea

Interest forums / Diving & Snorkelling

Tried to find worthwhile diving in PNG that won't break the bank. Resorts seem only for the cashed ups.
Anybody has suggestions for me?
Many thanks

Hi, I did some diving a couple of years ago in Alotau in Milne Bay with the Japanes-run dive base that is located beside the Japanese hotel on the main road.Sorry to not be more specific, I can“t recall the name. The prices were okay, still a bit more expensive than in other parts of the world, but definitely cheaper than going with a resort. The diving, by the way, was pretty amazing. Very beautiful coral and lots of fish life.

This is in New Britain - Rabaul.

Failing that I would suggest The Dive Center run by John Miller from the Airways Hotel - you won't be staying there - it's incredibly expensive, but he'll find you affordable accommodation & take you diving - the Pacific Gas & Pai II are scuttled wrecks & as good as anything you are likely to see anywhere
