Budget diving in Papua New Guinea

Tried to find worthwhile diving in PNG that won't break the bank. Resorts seem only for the cashed ups.
Anybody has suggestions for me?

Hi, I did some diving a couple of years ago in Alotau in Milne Bay with the Japanes-run dive base that is located beside the Japanese hotel on the main road.Sorry to not be more specific, I can´t recall the name. The prices were okay, still a bit more expensive than in other parts of the world, but definitely cheaper than going with a resort. The diving, by the way, was pretty amazing. Very beautiful coral and lots of fish life.

Failing that I would suggest The Dive Center run by John Miller from the Airways Hotel - you won't be staying there - it's incredibly expensive, but he'll find you affordable accommodation & take you diving - the Pacific Gas & Pai II are scuttled wrecks & as good as anything you are likely to see anywhere
