Booking Ferry from Athens to Santorini Online

Country forums / Western Europe / Greece

We need to book a ferry from Athens to Santorini for September 16, 2007. I don't know nuttin' about how to do this. I have a nervous husband who likes to have things laid out in advance. So, if we can book online before we go, that would be best. Otherwise, I presume we can buy ferry tickets when we are in the Athens port prior (a week prior) to our departure. Can someone tell me:

1. the web site(s) for booking

2. when I can book

Thank you!

Sonja

Hi there..

I have just booked my ticket for a ferry from an Athens port to Paros. Try the link below, it will take you straight to a website where you can choose your departure and arrival ports. If you are not sure of what the names of the ports are (for example, there are a few in Athens)...just google it! I put in google 'nearest port from Athens airport'...it came up with Rafina!! I believe them!

you can also book directly with the ferry companies, rather than via a travel agent.
Here for Hellenic seaways, h..s. and here forblue star - and you pick up your tickets from their agencies at the port before departure.

2

The best way to book Greek ferries is to go straight on the company page here are some super fast ferries Anek lines Minoan lines bluestarferries

Hey, I'd suggest using www.greekferries.gr to find out what ferry companies service this route on the days you want to travel. However, don't use this site to book, I used it to book a Blue Star Ferries trip to santorini which cost €31 and they charged me an additional €25, an 80% mark up for no value added! Instead just Google whichever ferry company is travelling at the right time & book through their website.

Best of luck...

The best way to get ferry tickets for Piraeus to Santorini on Sep 16th is to go to the port and buy them on the spot. There is no advantage to booking in advance for the middle of September when there will be plenty of seats available. You can also buy them from any travel agent in Athens, or even at the airport from Amphtrion Travel. Don't waste your time booking over the internet, and then worrying about your tickets arriving on time.

That should have been Amphitrion, located on the Arrivals Level, in the lobby where you exit for the buses, taxis, and metro.

BTW, the disadvantage of booking in advance is that you may find, once in Athens, that there is another ferry to Santorini that suits your needs much better, but too bad, you already have tickets. There is no chance whatsoever that ferries will be full on Sep 16th. I will be taking a ferry from Piraeus to Paros on Aug 30th, and won't be booking in advance either.

For real convenience you can fly to Santorini from Athens in only 45 min. For that, you will have to book in advance, either with Aegean or Olympic. Aegean has e-tickets, and Olympic plans to introduce them as well, but last time I checked they were still sending tickets through the mail.
