boat from sharm el sheikh to hurghada

Country forums / Africa / Egypt

Please can any one let me know if the boat from sharm el sheikh to hurghada is still running or if not is there an alternative trying to compleat my trip with out flying and could do with out the long bus journey.

Thanks in advance

There's a very long bus ride--we took it from Dahab, down through Sharm, up under the Suez Canal and south to Hurghada. I believe we left Dahab around 4:30pm and arrived in Hurghada around 5:30 or 6am. Don't think the ferry is operating. If you do a search on "bus schedule Sharm El Sheik to Hurghada' you'll come up with several sites with time tables.

Lat time I checked, about 6 weeks ago, there was no ferry. And I would say it is highly unlikely that it will return soon.

from where do you have this info that the ferry is not running? I've seen plenty of sites which say it's operational. like this one: http://www.ask-aladdin.com/ferries.html

I contacted the operator about 6 weeks ago and asked him.
Ask-Aladdin is not to be trusted, their info is at least 5 years old.
Check buses from Sharm el-Sheikh to St. Catherine for example. There are no East Delta buses and there haven't been East Delta buses for more than 5 years, but Ask-Aladdin shows there are still East Delta buses between the two towns.
