Best way to PERTH from CanadaCountry forums / Australia, New Zealand & Antarctica / Australia
I'm hoping to head back to Australia in September or October. Nothing wrong with the East Coast, of couse, but I'm planning to spend the month just in Western Australia. I know there are no direct flights from Canada or the US. But are there direct flights from Singapore (I know there is a Singapore-Darwin flights) or anywhere else in Southeast Asia? If so, which do you recommend? I could always ask my travel agent tomorrow, but it is 12 hours until they open and I would kind of like to know now. Not that I am impatient or anything :-) Thanks.
There are daily Singapore-Perth flights | 1
I'm on the wrong side of North America for Newark, but I think they also fly to Vancouver, so will check their website. Is that the only interesting "foreign" city in that region that has direct flights to Perth, though? | 2
Oh, I just thought to go to the Perth Airport International Arrivals and Departures screen and see that I have a choice of Singapore, Bangkok, or Kuala Lumpur, so I have a new question, although these places aren't in Australia. If anyone has been to all three, which is the most interesting to spend a few days in. I won't hold my breathe waiting for an answer here, but will also post on the SE Asia branch. | 3
Fly from Vancouver to Hong Kong Via Oasis Air. very cheap. then get over to Macau and fly to Perth via Tiger Air. Very Cheap. | 4
I personally would go for Bangkok as well. There's just so much to see and experience historically and culturally, this coming from someone who was born in KL. Singapore is great place if you're looking for a clean modern Asian city to get over your 20 hour flight from North America. Shopping is quite good, food is really good because it draws from the best of nearby Malaysia, Indonesia, Chinese of course and Indian communities. | 5
Complete tangent, OP, but since I understand that fully 5% of the Hong Kong population migrated to Canada prior to the handover, can you buy Cantopop in mainstream record shops in Canada? | 6
It may end up being Singapore (or possibily HongKong) as I can fly to both of those direct from Vancouver. But Singapore offers more flights to Perth, so also better prices, presumably. Those Oasis Air prices are amazing, though, but I wonder if they are just introductory or they will keep them that low. I obviously will need to bring out thhe calculator. | 7
#8, Singapore and Hong Kong are the same thing as far as flying goes, and thus Hong Kong with Oasis is the better option. My suggestion to use Tiger from Hong Kong (Macau, to be precise, an hour away in a hydrofoil) has you flying through Singapore on one cheap ticket. The price depends on how soon you book your flight. VGisit the China branch, lots of posts about Oasis and visit the Singapore branch for opinions on Tiger. | 8
