berlin -where to live

We will be in Berlin for four months starting in June. Would like to live in a safe neighborhood with artists, restaurants, galleries. Possibly Mitte but where? It's huge. Where else?

The galleries in Berlin Mitte are focused on Brunnenstrasse, Linienstrasse, Auguststrasse, Sophienstrasse, Gipsstrasse. Restaurants, cafés, bars abundant. I'm not sure if artists live in the neighborhood, might be that the area has been gentrified; the artists I know live elsewhere.
