Beirut

Two things; I'm fling into Beirut late evening, it says I can obtain a visa on arrival, can anyone confirm this please? (UK passport) Also I'm trying to arrange backpacker dorm accommodation (for 1) but all the hostels appear to be full. Anybody any ideas?

UK - yes, visa on arrival. It costs 25,000 LBP (UK£12).

Hotels - there aren't many cheap ones in Beirut. This place is nice but might be out of your budget http://www.hayete-guesthouse.com/

Talal was my choice and is booked for me. I did start booking a monh ago, though. Hopefully they won't forget us at the airport :x

Beryl, we are on our way now. In Stockholm waiting for our flight to Iraq. Won't be in Lebanon until October 8.

Talal confirmed they will have someone at the airport waiting for us, with my name on placard (typical tourism/pickup deal) They charge $20 for the pickup, and I am fine with that.

We will have to reconfirm on the 6th or 7th as they request we do so as a reminder, and to make sure we didn't change our plans and forget to tell them...
