Bay of Islands Nz

Hi

Ive been in Nz 4 months now and my parents are coming to visit in dec the are very active and young at heart we are travelling the North and South islands and ive all my itenary almost sorted except Bay of Islands... i would like feedback on ppl who have been here and what things there are to do, i have booked the swimming with wild dolphins, but can anyone else give me ideas of what to do where to go and see etc etc

The jet boat trip out through the hole in the rock was terrific. Saw Killer Whales and dolphins out there. Lovely.
Book when you get there just in case weather is yuck.

I'm starting my trip up there and planning it now - I'm pretty excited about kayaking, diving & snorkeling at Poor Knights Islands. it looks so beautiful! Post your full itinerary when you're done, I'd be dead interested to see it :)

Yes thanks for all the above and links, much appreciated. I use the tripit app for all my trips so posting my itenary is no problem, I know we will be doing both islands but concentrating more on the south which I'm very excited about as I've travelled the North Island several times. Roll on dec!! :)
